CM Punk 原名 Phil Brooks ，他以 Straight edge 的形象而成為很多年青摔迷的偶像，CM Punk 對於 Straight Edge 的態度是 : "Straight Edge means I'm drug-free, alcohol-free, and better than you!

CM Punk 最初是活躍於 backyard wrestling，後來加入由 Ace Steele 創辦的 STEEL DOMAIN WRESTLING接受專業摔角訓練，之後於 IWA Mid-South Wrestling 開始了他的職業摔角生涯。

後來又於ROH wrestling school受訓，並於ROH演出，他以及Samoa Joe、Homicide三人成為當時ROH的台柱。

2005年 CM Punk 受WWE垂青，簽約成為訓練選手，首先於OVW表演，2006年7月4日首次於WWE-ECW電視節目中登場，並於8月1日和Justin Credible進行了一場電視公開試合，試合結果是 CM Punk勝，觀眾反應亦相當理想，CM Punk 成為 WWE 力捧對象，並於2007年9月1日打敗John Morrison成為 ECW Champions，但於2008年1月22日輸掉給Chavo Guerrero,於2008年兌現了Money In The Bank,擊敗Edge,成為世界重量級冠軍......

About finisher-CM Punk於獨立圈時，其終結技為「百事坐擊Pepsi Plunge」，之後於ECW初期為「大蛇絞」，而為了讓視覺效果更佳，更能塑造CM Punk的格鬥風格，終結技正式為現在常用的「GO TO SLEEP」！
